Human chain demands reclamation of plots from Golden Monir
On 21 November, RAB arrested Monir from his residence in the capital for amassing wealth from undisclosed sources
Local people on Sunday staged a human chain in the capital's Merul Badda area demanding reclamation of land of the DIT project from Golden Monir.
Hundreds of protesters gathered on Rampura road in the morning and started to protest, blocking the city street.
The human chain disrupted traffic flow in Rampura road, said police.
Monir grabbed 39 plots in the DIT project of Merul Badda area through fraudulent activities.
Citing that Siraj Mia, father of Monir, was a traitor (Razakar), victims demanded to change the name of Siraj Memorial School in the name after a freedom fighter.
They also demanded nationalisation of the school.
Earlier on 21 November, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested detained Monir raiding his Merul Badda residence in the capital for amassing wealth from unknown sources.
In the drive, RAB seized an illegal foreign pistol, several rounds of bullets, foreign currencies of 10 countries worth Tk9 lakh, gold ornaments weighing 8kgs and Tk1 crore in cash.
