Abu Shahin, 14, is a madrasa student from Mongolkote village of Keshabpur upazila in Jashore. The little boy also operates a battery-run van on Fridays to help his van-driver father run the family.
On June 28, a few people hired Shahin around 11am for a long trip. The boy became very happy at the prospect of a high earning early in the day.
Little did he know about the misfortune awaiting him.
Those people stopped the van at a quiet place around Dhandia union and attacked Shahin.
“They not only stole his van but also hit him in the head with a hammer-like object, which broke his skull,” Patkelghata police station’s Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Rezaul Islam told The Business Standard. “The boy was rushed to Khulna and now on his way to Dhaka for better treatment,” he added.
“The boy is suffering from a brain haemorrhage,” the OC said.
Shahin’s father filed a case against unknown miscreants with the Patkelghata police station.
The Patkelgacha OC said they were trying their best to capture the culprits.
There have been rumours on Facebook since the incident that the boy died in Khulna, which is not true. OC Rezaul Islam confirmed that the boy is alive.
