Kidnapped from Old Dhaka, child rescued from Pirojpur after 5 days
Efforts ongoing to arrest the prime accused, RAB says
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) rescued a child from Patuakhali's Mathbaria five days after he was kidnapped from the capital.
The child, identified as Abdullah Al Noor Tushar, 8, was kidnapped from Old Dhaka's Sowari Ghat area on 30 September.
He was rescued during a joint drive conducted by RAB-1 and RAB-8 in the Amragachi-Hoglapat area of Mathbaria on Saturday night, said Lt Col Md Munim Ferdous, director of the Legal and Media Wing of RAB.
However, the prime accused, identified as Badol Ailas Hridoy, who allegedly abducted the child fled from the spot, Munim added.
"Efforts are ongoing to arrest the main accused, Badol, and others involved in the crime."
According to RAB, Tushar had gone to the Sowari Ghat area with his mother to meet Hridoy, who was previously acquainted with her. Hridoy lured Tushar away with the offer of buying chips and then abducted him.
Later, Tushar's mother filed a general diary (GD) with Kotwali police station in Dhaka.
On 2 October, Tushar's father filed a case in this connection after an unknown number contacted them asking for Tk2 lakh to free their son.
In response to the complaint, RAB conducted the drive and managed to rescue the boy.
