Meeting reviews progress of cases against human traffickers
No exemption will be given to the criminals involved in these cases
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) had issued orders to take stringent actions against those involved in human trafficking of Bangladeshi nationals to Libya, where 26 Bangladeshis have been killed and 11 others injured recently.
As per instructions from the IGP, 26 cases have been filed across the country and 71 accused have so far been arrested.
A meeting was held at the police headquarters at 11.30 am on Thursday to review the progress of the cases.

Dr Md Moinur Rahman Chowdhury, additional IG (A&O), presided over the meeting.
"The IGP has given a directive to investigate these cases with top priority. No exemption will be given to the criminals involved in these cases," he said.
He also urged everyone to work together to stop human trafficking in the country, and also advised to seek support from the Interpol to arrest the fugitive accused abroad.
Out of the 26 cases, the Criminal Investigation Department is investigating 15 cases, the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police five cases, the DMP one case and Madaripur district police five cases.
Senior officials of the agencies investigating the cases were present at the meeting.
