Over Tk50cr drugs, smuggled goods seized in July
The border guards arrested 261 people accused of smuggling drugs
The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized smuggled valuables and contraband drugs worth around Tk50.43 crore in separate drives at different places, including bordering areas, in July alone.
The seized drugs included about 9.5 lakh pieces of yaba tablets, nearly 55,000 bottles of phensedyl, about 6,000 bottles of foreign alcohol, over 1,600 cans of beer, around 2,500kg heroin and more than 1,200kg hemp, among others, said a press release.
Besides, a substantial amount of gold, silver, dresses, cosmetics, vehicles, guns and ammunition, among other items, were also seized in the drives, it also reads.
Moreover, the border guards arrested 261 people accused of smuggling drugs and other items while held 124 Bangladeshis and four Indian citizens for illegally crossing the border.
Legal actions have been taken against them, according to the release.
