RAB detains a CNG driver, 2 others over DU student rape
The arrestees will be produced before the victim at Dhaka Medical College Hospital in the morning
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained a driver of CNG-run autorickshaw and two others in connection to the rape of a Dhaka University student in capital's Kurmitola area.
RAB-1 Commanding Officer Lt Col Shafiullah Bulbul said they were detained on Tuesday after finding resemblance with the identification marks of the rapist described by the victim girl and tracking her phone, which was taken away by the rapist.
The arrestees are currently in RAB custody and they will be produced before the girl at Dhaka Medical College Hospital today morning for further confirmation. RAB will brief media afterwards, the police officer added.
The victim, a second-year student of Dhaka University, was picked up by an unidentified man after she got down from the bus in Kurmitola area in the capital on Sunday evening and then was taken to a secret place, where she was raped and tortured.
Later, she made it to her friend's house by herself when she regained sense at midnight. Then her friends took her to Dhaka University campus and admitted her at Dhaka Medical College Hospital in the early hours of Monday (January 6).
The doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital have found evidence of rape after primary test of the victim.
