Sagar-Runi murder: IO appears before High Court
The bench expressed dissatisfaction over the matter and set November 14 to pass an order.
The probe of Sagar-Runi murder case is underway, Khondaker Md Shafiqul Alam, investigation officer (IO) of the case told the High Court today.
Shafiqul, also an additional police superintendent of Rab, appeared before the bench of Justice Enayetur Rahim and Justice Mostafizur Rahman, to explain why the probe was not completed after seven years of the incident.
The IO said that four DNA samples have been sent to the lab of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Among them, two did not match with the accused.
"Report on the other two samples has not been published yet," he said, adding that the delay has been caused as investigators had to re-send DNA samples to FBI.
The bench expressed dissatisfaction over the matter and set November 14 to pass an order.
Advocate Fawzia Karim Firoze stood for Tanvir while Deputy Attorney General Md Sarwar Hossain represented the state.
Earlier, on October 20, the bench summoned the investigator seeking explanation on the delay of the probe, after Tanvir, an accused in the case, filed a petition to scrap the proceedings against him.
