Spectacle shop in Banani raided, evidence of Tk24.95 lakh VAT evasion found
A case was filed against the shop for VAT evasion today and sent to the Dhaka North Commissioner
A team of Value Added Tax (VAT) Intelligence found evidence of evading VAT worth Tk24.95 lakh while raiding a spectacle shop in the Banani area of the capital.
The operation at Behi Vision Care in Suvastu Suraiya Trade Center was led by VAT intelligence Assistant Director Shahana Shirin on Monday.
During the operation, the team found that the spectacle shop had evaded VAT in two ways. Later, they seized some relevant documents from the shop.
The shop has shown a monthly rent of Tk1.20 lakh on installation, but VAT detectives found its actual rent is Tk6.38 lakh. By concealing the rent facility, they evaded Tk19.01 lakh VAT.
The team also found that the shop have sold spectacles and related products worth Tk 1.25 crore since January 2019. By concealing this information, they evaded Tk5.93 lakh VAT.
A case was filed against the shop today for VAT evasion and sent to the Dhaka North Commissioner.
