Woman raped, Tk3.5 lakh looted from her house in Cox’s Bazar’s Moheshkhali
One suspect, Ridowan Haque, has been arrested in this connection
Unidentified individuals broke into a house in Cox's Bazar's Moheshkhali, raped a woman and looted Tk3.5 lakh in the early hours today (9 January).
Maheshkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kaiser Hamid said following the incident, the victim filed a case against five unidentified individuals this afternoon.
One suspect, Ridowan Haque, has been arrested, and a preliminary investigation is underway, he said, adding that police operations were ongoing to identify and catch the remaining suspects.
The arrestee was also accused in seven other cases filed over robbery, rape attempts and possession of arms, he added.
The OC said the incident occurred around 3am at Sonar Para village of Kalarmar Chhara union.
The victim is currently undergoing treatment at Moheshkhali Upazila Health Complex.
Dr Muhammad Raihan, a physician at Moheshkhali Health Complex, stated that evidence of rape was found in the physical examination of the victim.
