Chowdhury's departure was halted following objections raised by intelligence agencies
Chattogram's Shah Amanat International Airport authorities today (5 September) prevented Manjurul Alam Chowdhury, president of Chattogram's Kotwali Thana BNP, from travelling abroad, said airport officials
He was scheduled to depart for Saudi Arabia on Thursday afternoon (September 5) to perform Umrah, Ibrahim Khalil, the public relations officer of the Airport, told The Business Standard.
Chowdhury's departure was halted following objections raised by intelligence agencies, said Khalil. "Based on the intelligence report, we stopped him from travelling."
According to media reports, Manjurul, who is also a leader of BNP's Chattogram city unit, was later released, but his international travel plans were halted.
The flight, originally set to depart at 5:40pm, left without him at 6:22pm.
