‘Dhaka-OIC Youth Capital 2020’ to kick off Monday
Some 100 youth representatives from Bangladesh and 150 youth representatives from other OIC member states and beyond will join in the event online
With an aim to bring the youth and their spirit together from every corner of the world, the "Dhaka-OIC Youth Capital 2020" will begin Monday with a virtual inauguration ceremony amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the event that will be participated by youths from 75 countries.
Some 100 youth representatives from Bangladesh and 150 youth representatives from other OIC member states and beyond will join in the event online, said Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen in a pre-event virtual press conference for the youth summit.

A virtual tour of the "Rohingya Camp in Cox's Bazaar" will be organised in collaboration with United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) and International Organisation for Migration (IOM) for the shortlisted participants.
Bangladesh has been declared as the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Youth Capital for 2020. The theme of the event will be "Parity and Prosperity: For a Resilient Future."
Abdul Momen said, "I think the workshop and the topic is very relevant. The goal is theoretical understanding of youths followed by a virtual tour to Rohingya camps."
Today's youths are going to lead the country in future, the minister noted, adding that the Rohingya issue could be a topic that could help to build the leaders of the future so that they can understand the issue and can make a peaceful world.
"Without peace and stability no prosperity is possible," he said.
The Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF), the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will organise a two-day summit titled "Resilient Youth Leadership Summit" during the event on July 27-28.
The programme will be a combination of theoretical and interactive sessions via zoom.
The main objective of the summit is to seeking innovative ideas and solutions from the youth on how to better manage the Covid-19 crisis in terms of addressing the emergency as well as building post-Covid resilience and to build awareness among the youth about the ordeal and struggle of the Rohingya community.
The programme will incorporate youth in policy formulation process and introduce the "Displaced Persecuted Rohingya Community from Myanmar" to the participants.
Full attended participants will be awarded with a verified certificate issued by ICYF, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Youth & Sports.
