Digital Bangladesh Day today
Digital Bangladesh Day 2020 is being celebrated through various programmes across the country and Bangladesh embassies abroad.
On 12 December 2008, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made the announcement of the initiative to build a digital Bangladesh as the main premise of Vision 2021.
The main goal of its implementation is to make the country a middle-income country by 2021 and to build a knowledge-based society.
On the occasion of the day, at 7:30 am, a wreath was laid at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi 32 by of State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak.
The inaugural and prize distribution of the Fourth Digital Bangladesh Day competition was held at the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) Auditorium at 10 am. President Abdul Hamid was connected through digital platform as the chief guest at the event.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak on the occasion of the day said, "Digital Bangladesh belongs not only to the Awami League but to 160 million people. Every person in every house is enjoying the benefits of Digital Bangladesh."
He noted that through digital technology, the people of the country have been able to stay connected during the Covid-19 epidemic.
