Dog squad deployed in two jails to enhance security, curb illegal narcotics flow
Prison authorities have deployed dog squads in two jails of the country in a bid to curb the illegal narcotics flow and enhance security measures.
The dog squads were deployed at the Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj and the Kashimpur Central Jail on 14 December as part of ongoing prison reforms, Assistant Inspector General of Prisons (Media) Jannat-ul Farhad told The Business Standard.
The trained canines will be placed in the entry point of the jails to sniff out prisoners, visitors, and staff, he said.
"The squads have been deployed with the aid of the Bangladesh Army, which will oversee overall activities, including training," he further said.
Dog squads will be deployed in other prisons of the country in phases, he added.
