DSCC to vacate occupied lands under flyovers: Taposh
The areas will be freed to let the vehicles move freely
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Nur Taposh Wednesday announced that illegally occupied lands under the flyovers inside the city corporation's jurisdiction will be vacated in phases.
He made the statement while exchanging views with reporters after inaugurating Lakshibazar playground at DSCC's 42nd ward.
Taposh noted that the areas will be freed so that vehicles can move freely under the flyovers.
"The areas under the flyover are heavily occupied, mismanaged and littered with garbage. Different quarters are currently occupying these spaces and using them for all sorts of activities. We will, in turn, free up and recover these spaces so that vehicles can move freely under the flyovers as well as an open and airy environment is created for the residing citizens," he said.
Barrister Taposh further said the DSCC authority is streamlining its traffic engineering management system at the intersections and have started the process of modernising current architecture.
"We have initiated these modernisation activities from today at the Maghbazar intersection," he added.
