Alleged ruling party men obstructed the teachers’ protest programme
A human chain programme by Comilla University teachers at the university campus was obstructed by alleged ruling party men today (1 August).
The teachers claimed they were obstructed at multiple locations, including Kotbari, Cadet College and at Ansar Camp intersection by the Awami League and BCL activists on their way to join today's programme.
Consequently, only six teachers could join the scheduled human chain in front of the university's administrative building this morning.
They organized the human chain to protest the killing, arrest, and harassment of students involved in the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement across the country.
They also claimed that the students were seen having their mobile phones checked by the ruling party men at different locations.
At the human chain, Mahbubul Haque Bhuiyan, an assistant professor in the Mass Communication and Journalism Department of the university, stated that many of his colleagues reported being obstructed at Kotbari area and were unable to reach the campus despite identifying themselves as teachers.
Acting Proctor Kazi Omar Siddiqui said, "A teacher called me and reported this issue. I then informed the administration, and they said they would look into the matter."
