Bank Asia to provide 'Student Support Loan' to NUB students
Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) has signed and memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bank Asia to provide 'Student Support Loan' (SSL) to NUB students facing financial difficulties in paying their tuition fees.
Officials from the 2 organisations signed the MoU at the board room of NUB on Tuesday, said a press release issued by NUB.
Prof Dr Abu Yusuf Md Abdullah, Chairman, Northern University Bangladesh Trust; Professor Dr Anwar Hossain, Vice Chancellor of NUB; Dr Mahfuzur Rahman, Chairman, ATN Bangla and ATN News; Arfan Ali, Managing Director and Chairman, Bank Asia Ltd; Prof Dr Nazrul Islam, Pro-Vice Chancellor (D), NUB; Prof Dr Mohammad Ekramol Islam, Treasurer, NUB; Commodore M Munirul Islam, (Retd) BN, Registrar of NUB; Saad Al Zabir Abdullah, Director IT ar NUB; Labiba Abdullah, Director Finance at NUB; Prof Dr Anwarul Karim, Executive Director, BRC; Mossammat Habibun Nahar, Controller of Examinations at NUB and Mohammad Ziaul Hasan Molla, Deputy Managing Director, Bank Asia Ltd were present during the occasion.

Chairman of NUB Trust Prof Dr Abu Yusuf Md Abdullah, said, "We are the first private university to provide such loan assistance to students for higher education. They will repay this loan after finishing their student life. However, almost all other countries of the developed world provide education loans."
Northern authority hopes, that the students of Northern University will be able to face the challenges ahead in the face of the global crisis by getting this loan facility, the release added.
