Barishal University teachers issue 17-day ultimatum for treasurer’s removal
They threatened to launch a tougher agitation if the authorities fail to accept their demands by 31 December
A group of teachers at Barishal University issued a 17-day ultimatum to the authorities, demanding the immediate cancellation of the appointment of Col (retd) Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal Khan as the university's treasurer.
In a press conference held today (15 December), the teachers expressed deep concern over the appointment, citing the treasurer's alleged involvement in corruption and his association with the former government.
In a written statement, Disaster Management department Chairman Dr Hafiz Ashraful Haque pointed to a UGC investigation report that detailed allegations of corruption and irregularities against the newly appointed treasurer during his tenure at Begum Rokeya University.
He emphasised the negative impact of such an appointment on the university's academic environment.
The teachers threatened to launch a tougher agitation if the authorities fail to accept their demands by 31 December.
