Dhaka University bans Rag Day
It was banned on the campus because it was considered an inhumane, cruel, and unethical festival
The University of Dhaka has decided to ban campus activities carried out in the name of Rag Day.
The decision was made at a virtual meeting of the academic council chaired by Vice-Chancellor of the university Professor Akhtaruzzaman on Wednesday.
Rag Day was banned on the campus because it was considered an inhumane, cruel, and unethical festival.

The meeting also recommended forming an ethical review in each faculty of the university.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (administration) Professor Muhammad Samad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (education) Professor ASM Muhammad Maqsood Kamal, deans of various faculties, chairmen of different departments, directors of institutes, and more than 300 members of the academic council were present at the meeting.
Faculties, departments, and institutes were given approval to arrange unfinished examinations in a coordinated manner in line with the hygiene rules, and to publish the final results.
The meeting also emphasised taking up basic research projects and publishing research on occasion of the centenary of the university and the golden jubilee of independence.
