Dr Omar Faruk Yusuf appointed as new vice-chancellor of Chattogram Medical University
The term of his appointment is four years
Dr Omar Faruk Yusuf, a former professor from the Surgery Department of Chattogram Medical University, has been appointed as the vice chancellor (VC) of Chattogram Medical University.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued a notification on Tuesday confirming his appointment for a four-year term. Chattogram Medical University Assistant Registrar, Md Alauddin, confirmed the news.
The appointment comes with five specific conditions, as outlined in the official notification:
The term of his appointment is four years. He will receive the same salary and allowances as his previous position until retirement. He will enjoy other benefits associated with the position of Vice Chancellor, according to university regulations. His responsibilities will be governed by Section 13 of the Chattogram Medical University Act, 2016. The president and chancellor hold the authority to terminate the appointment at any time.
Earlier this month, the founding Vice Chancellor of Chattogram Medical University, Dr Md Ismail Khan, resigned due to health concerns. Dr. Ismail Khan had been reappointed for a second term in April 2021, which was set to last four years.
Dr Ismail Khan was the first vice chancellor of Chittagong Medical University, appointed after its establishment in 2016.
