DU teachers call for an end to police repression on students, reopening of campus
Teachers and students from other universities also joined the protest
Teachers from Dhaka University today (1 August) demanded an end to police repression on students and reopening of classes and dormitories.
Speaking at an anti-oppression protest in front of Aparajeyo Bangla in front of the university's Arts Building, the teachers also demanded justice for the injured and wounded students.
Teachers and students from other universities also joined the protest.

Rushad Faridi, assistant professor of the economics department, said, "The vice chancellor has no authority to vacate the halls and close the campus."
He emphasised the necessity of allowing students and faculty to resume campus activities.
Earlier in the day, the teachers and the students from economics department and public administration department staged separate protests in the same place condemning the attack on Shehrin Amin Bhuiyan, a faculty member of public administration department at Dhaka University.
Later, the teachers and students brought out a procession from the Raju Memorial Sculpture. After a brief rally, the procession paraded through different roads of the campus and ended at the Shaheed Minar.
