DU won’t reopen residential halls on 17 May
Further decision will be made considering the situation
In the face of continued upsurge in coronavirus fatalities and fresh cases, the Dhaka University authorities have backtracked from normalising academic activities and decided not to reopen the residential halls on 17 May.
"Decision has been made not to reopen the campus as well as the residential halls on 17 May, considering the recent upsurge in coronavirus cases and inability to vaccinate the students," Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor ASM Maksud Kamal told The Business Standard.
He also added that they will take further decision in this regard considering the situation.
The authorities had earlier decided to partially reopen the halls for the students of masters on 17 May.
Due to the coronavirus situation, normal educational activities of Dhaka University, like other educational institutions in the country, have been closed since mid-March last year.
