Govt to print more 12.81cr textbooks for IV, V, IX, X grades
The government today (11 December) approved separate proposals for the procurement of some 12.81 crore copies of textbooks for distribution free of cost among students of IV, V, IX and X grades for the academic year 2025.
The approval came from this year's 16th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase (ACCGP) held at the Cabinet Division conference room at Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, he said the meeting has approved a proposal of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) under the Secondary and Higher Secondary Division for the printing, binding and supplying of 6.28 crore copies of textbooks for secondary (Bangla and English versions, 9th grade), Dakhil (9th grade) and Technical (9th grade) education through 211 bidders at a cost of around Tk525.34 crore.
The meeting also approved another procurement proposal of NCTB for the printing, binding and supplying of over one crore copies of textbooks for secondary (Bangla version, 10th class) education through 36 bidders at a cost of around Tk89.85 crore.
The meeting also approved another proposal of the NCTB for the printing, binding and supplying of 5.52 crore copies of textbooks for Ibtedai (4th and 5th grades), Secondary (Bangla and English versions, 10th grade), Dakhil (10th grade) and Technical (10th grade) education through 152 bidders at a cost of around Tk423.24 crore.
