Hult Prize finale hosted at AUW
Hult Prize, supported by the United Nations and the Clinton Global Initiative, is part of a series of worldwide events.
Asian University for Women (AUW) on November 22 hosted the grand finale of Hult Prize On Campus at the university premises.
Kamal Ahmad, founder of AUW, and professor Nirmala Rao, vice-chancellor of AUW, inaugurated the program, said a press release on Sunday.
Dr Dave Dowland, the university registrar, delivered the welcome speech.
The competition started at 3.00pm with 12 teams pitching their ideas to the judges. The final round of the event started at 6 pm with the selected top 6 teams.
The judges panel in the finale round consist of Micheal Foley, CEO of Grameen Phone; Dr Mohidus Samad Khan, Program Manager of Environmental Sustainability in Textile Industries, Secretary of Board of Post Graduate Studies and Associate Professor at Department of Chemical Engineering, BUET; Korvi Rakshand Dhrubo, Founder and Executive Director of JAAGO Foundation; Dr Munal Mahmood, VP of Chittagong Women Chamber of Commerce and CEO of Matita, among others.
The social-enterprise model showcase session ended with a prize-giving ceremony to the winning team "We Can". "Project LAAL" secured the second position.
Hult Prize, supported by the United Nations and the Clinton Global Initiative, is part of a series of worldwide events.
The global finale will be held at the United Nation's headquarters in September, 2020. The winning team be awarded $1,000,000 prize money.
Hult Prize On Campus at AUW was organized by the event Director Sayma Akhter Jafrin, alongside core members Anindita, Tahmina, Ulfatun Nesa, Nashiba, Mehereen, Alma, Manisha, Rawhni.
