No JSC, JDC exams this year: Dipu Moni
The education minister also said fifth graders will be evaluated by their own schools
The education ministry is planning to promote eighth-graders to the next class holding annual tests this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, instead of the Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations.
"There is no scope to hold JSC and JDC examinations this year. Schools will evaluate their eighth-graders at their respective institutions,"disclosed Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Tuesday.
She was speaking to journalists after a programme organised to mark Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's 75th birthday at the city's Ganabhaban Government High School.

JSC and JDC examinations were not held last year due to the worsening Covid situation.
Asked about the Primary Education Completion (PEC) examinations, she said fifth graders will also be evaluated by their own schools.
More than 20 lakh eighth-graders were expected to sit for the JSC and JDC examinations this year.
The government introduced JSC and JDC exams in 2010 and over 14 lakh class-eight students from schools and madrasas across the country participated in the first-ever JSC and JDC examinations.
