Workshop on Multimedia Journalism held at BGC Trust University

A daylong workshop on multimedia journalism, titled "Storytelling Redefined: Exploring Multimedia Journalism," was held today (5 December) at BGC Trust University Bangladesh.
The event provided students with valuable insights into multimedia reporting, brainstorming sessions, Q&A discussions, and certificates of participation, reads a press release.
Organised by the Department of Journalism and Media Studies, the workshop was presided over by the department's acting chairman, Yeasr Silmy. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr AFM Aowrangazab served as the chief guest, while registrar-in-charge Dr SM Shoaib addressed the event as a special guest.
Majumder Babu, head of Multimedia at The Business Standard, conducted the workshop as the trainer. Seventy students from the Department of Journalism and Media Studies participated.
The event was moderated by lecturer Tasnuva Tahsin, with the workshop convener, lecturer Muhammad Naim Uddin, delivering the welcome address.
Other notable attendees included guest lecturer Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, who is also a faculty member at Chittagong University, lecturer and assistant proctor Sarwar Kamal, and lecturer Md Nakib.
In his speech, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr AFM Aowrangazab emphasised the importance of acquiring knowledge and skills in journalism, particularly in the face of an evolving media landscape.
"Workshops like these are essential for preparing journalism students to excel in the competitive media industry," he said.
Registrar-in-charge Dr SM Shoaib highlighted the importance of discipline and responsibility, urging students to contribute positively to their families and the nation while becoming skilled and conscientious professionals.
Workshop trainer senior journalist Majumder Babu underscored the dynamic and engaging nature of multimedia journalism, which he described as distinct from traditional practices and in high demand globally.
"Equip yourself with the skills that make organizations seek you out. Read extensively, think creatively, and work hard to become an indispensable professional," he encouraged the participants.
