IAEA reiterates continued support to Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant
IAEA DG Mariano Grossi expressed his keenness to visit Bangladesh soon at the invitation of the Science and Technology minister
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has reiterated its continued all-out support to Bangladesh for the construction of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant.
Rafael Mariano Grossi, director general of IAEA, gave the assurance to Abu Zafar, Permanent Representative to United Nations Offices in Vienna, when he went to bid farewell, reports a press release.
Abu Zafar, also the Bangladesh ambassador to Austria, thanked the IAEA DG for its support for skill development of officials associated with Rooppur Power Plant and assisting Bangladesh in preparing legal framework, critical safety and security structures for its construction.
At that time, IAEA DG Mariano Grossi expressed his keenness to visit Bangladesh soon at the invitation of the Science and Technology minister.
The Bangladesh envoy also met Lassina Zerbo, the executive secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organisation, in a farewell meeting.
Abu Zafar who has been appointed as Bangladesh ambassador to the United Arab Emirates will soon join his new office.
