Mother elephant dies after giving birth in Teknaf hills
A mother elephant has died after giving birth to a calf in the hills of Teknaf, Cox's Bazar.
The calf was later rescued by members of the Forest Department.
The baby elephant was found in the dense forest of Horikhola, said Whykong Range Officer Md Minar Chowdhury.
He said he was informed of the incident by locals and a team then reached the spot in the afternoon and conducted the rescue.
The elephant would be buried, he also said.
He further mentioned that the calf will be sent to the Dulahazara Safari Park in Cox's Bazar.
