Ex-principal secy Abul Kalam Azad appointed as special envoy for CVF
The appointment was made jointly by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and CVF President and Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina
Former principal secretary to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Abul Kalam Azad has been appointed as the special envoy for the United Nations Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF).
The Prime Minister's Office confirmed the matter of his appointment on Sunday.
The appointment was made jointly by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and CVF President and Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina.
In this role, he will serve as a key representative to the chair of CVF Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who has been exercising this role since April 2020.
Former Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Abul Kalam Azad is currently responsible for Country Coordination of Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) in Bangladesh.
He leads the SDG planning and implementation from Prime Minister's Office of Bangladesh.
