Expert team to investigate Hefazat activists’ vandalism cases in Brahmanbaria
“More than 20 cases are under process, the expert team from the CID and PBI will investigate each scene and collect evidence”
A team of experts from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) will investigate all the vandalism cases in Brahmanbaria that took place amid Hefazat's hartal, said Md Anwar Hossain, deputy inspector general (DIG) of the Chattogram Range Police.
While visiting the torched "Sur Samrat The Alauddin Sangeetangon", he further said that additional police members were brought in to control Hefazat-e-Islam activists arson and vandalism.
"More than 20 cases are under process, the expert team from the CID and PBI will investigate each scene and collect evidence," said DIG Hossain.
Mentioning that all measures have been taken to keep the law and order situation in Brahmanbaria normal, he added the situation was now stable.
Alongside "Sur Samrat The Alauddin Sangeetangon," the activists on Sunday vandalised Brahmanbaria District Council Office, Brahmanbaria Municipality Office, Municipal Auditorium.
They also set fire to three buildings including the land office in Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila.
Hefazat activists also vandalised the Brahmanbaria Press Club building around 12 pm on the day severely injuring the President of the club.
