Female police constable found dead in Kushtia
Police have launched a thorough investigation into the matter
The body of a female police constable was found in her home in the Kamalapur area of Kushtia town last evening (25 December).
The deceased has been identified as Rubina Khatun, 28, a constable working in the General Record Office (GRO) of the Kushtia court.
Kushtia Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shihabur Rahman Shihab said that initial investigations suggest the incident may have been a suicide.
"The cause of death will be confirmed after the autopsy report," he added.
According to police, Rubina's body was discovered by her colleagues after repeated attempts to reach her by phone throughout the day were unsuccessful. They informed a neighbor, who spoke with Rubina's husband and learned that she had been unwell and had kept the door closed since morning.
After repeated attempts to contact her failed, Rubina's colleagues went to her house. Upon forcing entry, they discovered her body hanging from a ceiling fan.
Rubina Khatun, daughter of Abdul Sheikh from Ramnagar village in Meherpur district, was married to Alal Sheikh, 30, of Ratanpur village in the same district.
The couple lived with their two children in the Kamalapur area.
On the day of the incident, the children were staying with relatives, while both Rubina and her husband were at home due to a holiday.
Police have launched a thorough investigation into the matter, the OC said.
