Fire guts 11 shops in Ctg's Fatikchhari

A fire gutted 11 shops in the Kazirhat Bazaar area of Fatikchhari Upazila in Chattogram this morning (5 February).
However, no casualties were reported in the fire.
Fatikchhari Fire Service officer Kamal Uddin Chowdhury confirmed the incident to The Business Standard and said an electrical short circuit is suspected to have caused the fire.
"A detailed investigation will determine the exact extent of the damage," he added.
According to local residents, flames erupted suddenly around 7:15am, prompting people to try and extinguish the fire.
Upon receiving the information, firefighters from the Fatikchhari Fire Station rushed to the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control around 9:15am.
However, by then, the fire had already consumed 11 shops.
Kamal Uddin Chowdhury said the extent of damage in the fire is approximately Tk10 lakh as 8 shops were completely gutted while three others were partially damaged.
The victims of the fire include Ranjit (Sweet Shop), Abu Saudagar (Rice Store), Taslim (Cookware Shop), Alamgir (Timber Shop) Taslim (Bedding Shop), Ansar (Restaurant), Abbas (Workshop), Tahe (Steel Shop), Selim (Bismillah Hotel), Abbas (Betel Leaf Shop) and Nurul Islam (Workshop).
