Fire set to cables in Mohakhali causes power outage at nearby data centres, cuts broadband internet capacity by 30%
The fire set to the Ministry of Disaster and Relief Management building in Mohakhali and the surrounding power cables caused a power outage at the nearby Khaza Tower, housing two data centres, resulting in a fall in broadband internet speed.
The outage has meant the capacity of the country's cable broadband internet connection industry has decreased by 30%.
Md Emdadul Hoque, president of the Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh, confirmed the matter.
Internet connectivity is at risk as the government already restricted mobile 4G last night.
