Five-year-old Prova needs your help
Prova was diagnosed with cancer two months ago, and now she is spending her days in a hospital in India
Sejuti Das Prova, a five-year-old girl from Satkhira, should have been spending her days playing and running around, but fate had something cruel for her.
Prova was diagnosed with cancer two months ago, and now she is spending her days in a hospital in India.
"Prova got sick in September. We took her to local hospitals and they referred us to Khulna Medical College Hospital. After going there, they told us that Prova has cancer," her mother Joshna Rani Das said.
The doctors at Khulna medical suggested Prova's family to take her to India and start treatment as soon as possible. The doctors in Dhaka also suggested the same.
Prova's father, Saday Das had some money saved, so he was able to take his daughter to Vellore of India on November 17 for treatment. But he cannot bear the cost any more as all of his savings has already been spent.
"Doctors said that Prova will get well if we give her necessary chemotherapy. But it will cost around Tk8 lakh. We do not have that much money. We won't be able to manage the money even if we sell our home," Joshna said.
Chairman of Islamkati Union Parishad Suvash Chandra confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
"Prova's father used to work in a private NGO named Udipta Mohila Unnayan Sangstha. He does not have that job anymore. The family is going through a difficult time. They do not have enough money to treat her," he said.
Prova's mother went to the Tala Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO)'s office in Satkhira on Thursday afternoon and told him about her situation.
Tala UNO Md Iqbal Hossain said, "The cost of treatment is too much for one person to bear. I already took initiatives to collect money for her treatment."
Urging everyone to come forward to save Prova's life, he said, "People who are willing to help her can do it by calling 01301829777."
