Foreign minister requests Canada to extradite Bangabandhu’s killer Noor Chowdhury
Dr Momen also asked for help in providing food relief to the destitute if the corona crisis lingers
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has requested the Canadian government to take necessary steps to send Bangabandhu's murderer Noor Chowdhury back to Bangladesh.
"Bringing Noor Chowdhury back to Bangladesh to execute the verdict in Bangabandhu murder case in the birth centenary of Bangabandhu will be a great achievement for the people of the country," said Dr Momen while talking to Canadian Foreign Minister François-Philippe Champagne over phone on Wednesday, according to a Bangladesh foreign ministry press release.
However, François-Philippe proposed to form an alliance to face post-pandemic challenges. He has also assured that Canada will stay beside Bangladesh in any crisis.

Dr Momen requested the Canadian government to waive tuition fees of Bangladeshi students there and to cooperate them.
He also sought help from the country in rehabilitation of the workers, who lost their jobs abroad and returned to Bangladesh.
Dr Momen also asked for help in providing food relief to the destitute if the corona crisis lingers.
Mentioning the apparel sector of Bangladesh a very important factor in the country's economy, Dr Momen said the sector was in now crisis due to the cancellations of orders from various countries. He sought help from Canada, which is a big importer of ready-made garments, in this regard. He informed the Canadian minister that around 40 lakh workers' jobs in the sector are at risks and majority of them are women.
Dr Momen urged Canada to invest in Bangladesh's IT sector, mentioning that a huge number of potential and talented youths are engaged in the sector.
Besides, he requested Canada to come forward in investing in special economic zones of the country.
He also urged Canada to work jointly in agricultural sector.
In reply, Canadian foreign minister said they were considering it with importance.
However, François-Philippe Champagne thanked Dr Momen for cooperating in sending Canadian citizens back to their country by special chartered flights.
