Former Chief Justice, Mahmudul Amin Chowdhury passed away on Sunday evening, at his own residence. He was 83.
He was a judge on the Justice Department segregation case. Mahmudul Amin Chowdhury was the 11th chief justice of Bangladesh.
Following the retirement of Justice Latifur Rahman on February 28, 2001, The president appointed Mahmudul Amin Chowdhury as the Chief Justice.
Mahmudul Amin Chowdury took oath as the chief justice on March 1, 2001, and retired on June 17, 2002.
Justice Chowdhury served in high court since 1987. Prior to serving in the high court, he was a practicing lawyer from 1963 to 1987.
