Waste removal activities are underway from Panthapath and Segunbagicha box culverts in the capital.
On the fourth working day, waste removal activities were carried out at Panthakunj outlet of Panthapath Box culvert and Russell Square on Tuesday, manually and with instruments.

In Panthapath culvert, 47 tons of waste were removed during the third working day (Monday), while 77.61 tons of waste were removed throughout the day on Tuesday.
After four days of work, the total waste removed now stands at 124.61 tons.
However, the Gopibagh outlet of the Segunbagicha culvert is worked on manually due to the excess amount of indigestible material.
In addition, manual waste collection activities are still underway as a preliminary initiative to restore water flow in the Shampur, Jirani, Manda and Kalu Nagar canals of the city.
In addition to waste removal in Shampur canal, demarcation activities are still underway. Dredger extraction will be launched in the Trimohoni section of Nandipara (Jirani canal) on Thursday.
Chief of Dhaka South, ABM Amin Ullah Noori, said, "The waste removal process from canals and box culverts is not the same everywhere. The waste being removed from the Panthapath box culvert is different from what is removed from the Segunbagicha box culvert."
"There are also different types of waste in the upstream and downstream box culverts, and the activities are currently in full swing. Based on our experience from the past week, we will accordingly decide on next steps" he added.
Chief Waste Management Officer of Dhaka South, Air Commodore Md Badrul Amin, said, "While removing waste from the Panthapath box culvert, we found a layer of decomposing waste inside the culvert, 5-10 feet thick. We assume this is composed of soil and sand following extensive periods of accumulation."
"This activity is quite complex and difficult. But we will carry on our work," he added.
