Robiul Awal Antar, 30, a deputy secretary of Gono Osdhikar Parishad's central committee, has reportedly gone missing.
According to his family, he disappeared while returning to his home in Londa village of Patuakhali's Kolapara upazila on Thursday night.
Tushar Al Mamun, Antar's elder brother, lodged a complaint with the Kolapara Police Station over the matter, mentioning the names of six officials of the Payra Thermal Power Plant.
Sulaiman, Antar's father, said, "My son has been protesting for a long time, demanding compensation for those affected by the Payra Thermal Power Plant, jobs for affected family members, and eight other demands."
He said police called to inform them that Antar's vehicle was found by the roadside. However, they were unable to locate him despite extensive searches in various places.
Jewel Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of the Kolapara Police Station, said security personnel from the Payra Port road alerted the police upon seeing the parked motorcycle.
"The police then recovered the motorcycle, which was found abandoned, with 'Rabiul Awal Antar' written on the front," he said.
Jewel said police are looking into the matter.
