Govt dealt with over 150 movements, saved economy from brink of disaster: Adviser Mahfuj
The government has dealt with more than 150 movements and has saved the economy from the brink of disaster, Adviser Mahfuj Alam said yesterday.
"It [government] stands firm against an aggressive foreign policy. From providing financial assistance and rehabilitation to the July uprising martyrs and the injured to ensuring justice and reform, we are working tirelessly," he said in a post on his verified Facebook profile.
Even now, any legitimate demand of the people, though time-bound, is being fulfilled, he said, adding, "The government is listening, it is working."
He further said various arenas of fascism are becoming active again and that the old ideological arrangements have been revived.
"Blame the government, no problem. We are trying. We will explain why we couldn't or why we didn't meet your expectations," he said, addressing people.
"However, yours and our continuous struggle against cultural fascism and the old economic order is necessary," he added.
"July was a point of convergence. I had warned you about the ideological battle. Five months later, it is becoming true. There is an attempt to bring back Shapla-Shahbagh. The Mujibist paradigm and historical theories are becoming active again. In contrast, reactionism is gaining strength instead of creativity.
"Do you think these are solely the responsibility of the government? Or solely the responsibility of Mahfuj Alam?"
He further said, "However, those who have stood in the way of the state's potential for reconstruction, by being ideologically rigid and bringing in foreign agendas, will be held accountable by our generation."
Cultural forces and the 'mass' media, who are betraying the martyrs and the injured from a purely ideological profit-and-loss standpoint, the adviser continued, "will be remembered by our generation."
"The day we come back to the streets, we will bring to the people the record of our daily work, as documented in our diaries. But, where will you, the anti-July [revolution] forces, go? Where will the assassins, who pretended to be allies of the July uprising but stabbed it in the back, run to?"
"We are keeping a record of your deeds too. The answer to how you have entangled Bangladesh's potential in ideological and foreign-sponsored games will come from the people! Gather your allies. Identify your enemies," said Adviser Mahfuj.
