Govt has no plan to increase age limit for job entry
State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said the government has no plans to raise the age limit for entry into jobs.
If the age limit for entering jobs is increased, the recruitment tests will be more competitive and there will be frustration among those below 30 years of age, said Farhad Hossain at the parliament in response to lawmaker Habibe Millat's question on Tuesday.
The state minister for public administration said in the past there were big session jams in many universities, but currently, there is no significant session jam anywhere. As a result, students usually pass SSC at the age of 16, HSC at 18, and master's degree at 23-24.
Since the maximum age limit for entry into the jobs is 30 years for general candidates, even after obtaining a master's degree, they have at least six-seven years to apply for the jobs. When a candidate below 30 years of age applies for a job and it takes one to two years to complete the recruitment process, it is not counted, he said.
Farhad Hossain further said the number of vacancies has dropped as the retirement age has been raised from 57 to 59 years recently. In this context, if the age limit for entering the job is increased, the number of job seekers for different positions will increase by a huge ratio.
This can lead to more competition in recruitment, creating frustration among candidates below the age of 30. In this context, the government has no plans to increase the age limit for entering a job.
