Deputy Minister for Water Resources AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem today said the government has started repairing works including immediate rehabilitation in the country's coastal areas influenced by the cyclone Yaas.
"The control rooms of the Ministry of Water Resources and the Water Development Board have maintained constant communication during the YAAS and the extent of damage has greatly reduced due to following immediate advice and providing necessary assistance," he said.
He said this while visiting the Shubhgram area of Naria Municipality on the right bank of the Padma river here.
He added that the government is fully prepared during the corona pandemic to reduce any kind of damage in the upcoming monsoon and flood season.
Under the worthy leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Ministry of Water Resources and the Water Development Board have completed all the preparatory works to this end, he said.
During the visit, Enamul was accompanied by Water Development Board, Faridpur Region Chief Engineer Abdul Hakim, Supervising Engineer Syed Shahidul Alam, Shariatpur Executive Engineer SM Ahsan Habib, Naria Municipality Mayor Adv Abul Kalam Azad and Naria Upazila Awami League General Secretary Hasanuzzaman Khokon.
