Govt urges students to remain calm, not to get involved in clashes
The government is investigating whether there is any provocation behind such clashes
The government has called upon students to remain calm and not to get involved in any clash.
"If any instigation is found behind such clashes, strict action will be taken," Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said today (25 November) in the wake of clashes that occurred among students of several colleges in Dhaka city.
Talking to BSS, Shafiqul Alam said the government is monitoring the recent clashes that took place in several educational institutions.
"We urge students to remain calm and not to get involved in any kind of clash," the press secretary said.
He said the government is investigating whether there is any provocation behind such clashes.
Alam warned that any attempt to create instability in any part of the country, including educational institutions, would be strictly resisted.
Earlier in the day, students of Dr Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College (DMRC) clashed with those of Kabi Nazrul Government College and Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College.
Dr Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College (DMRC) Managing Director Ashraf Samir in a press release claimed that three of their students had died in clashes.
Yesterday, students from Dr Mahbubur Rahman Molla College vandalised the main gate of Dhaka National Medical College and Hospital (DNMCH) in Old Dhaka, alleging medical malpractice and irregularities in the treatment of 18-year-old student Abhijit Halder, who died while undergoing treatment.
Last night, a clash took place between students of Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) and Dhaka Polytechnic Institute. At least 20 students injured in the clash received treatment at the Emergency Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
