He added that no country can work alone on immigration
The government is working to protect Bangladeshi migrants through public-private partnerships, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam has said.
He stated this on Friday while speaking as the chief guest at a webinar titled "Bettering Human Mobility for Better Interconnecting Economies" organised by the Bangladesh Embassy in Jordan on the occasion of Mujib Year.
The state minister said no country can work alone on immigration.

Responsibility-sharing and mutual cooperation are crucial to face the challenges of managing immigration, he said.
Shahriar Alam continued, "The Bangladesh government gives the utmost importance to establishing an effective framework for migration through the implementation of the Global Compact for Migration [GCM]."
He hopes that the United Nations and civil society will play an active role in the implementation of the programmes adopted by Bangladesh.
Dr Ahmed Munirush Salehin, expatriates' welfare and overseas employment secretary, and Farooq al-Hadidi, Jordan's labour secretary, were the special guests at the webinar hosted by Bangladesh Ambassador to Jordan Nahida Sobhan.
In her welcome speech, Nahida Sobhan said, "Labour migration plays a role in improving the living standards of migrants as well as in the economic development of their own countries and the countries where they migrate."
Therefore, economic development of all is possible by ensuring the protection and quality of life of migrant workers, she added.
"Jordan has always considered migrants as partners in Jordan's economic development," said Farooq al-Hadidi.
AFM Borhan Uddin, director general (Middle East and West Asia) of the foreign ministry; Tajma Kurt, head of Mission of the International Organization for Migration in Jordan; Shabarinath Nair, regional labour migration specialist of the International Labour Organization South Asia, and Ahsan ul Haq Helal, country director of the Jordanian international organisation MEDA, were also present at the virtual discussion.
