Graft allegations in Dhaka airport’s 3rd terminal project will be probed: CAAB chairman
The allegations of corruption, raised by stakeholders, concerning the third terminal project of Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport will be investigated, said Air Vice Marshal Md Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan, chairman of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), today (2 December).
The matters will be probed by appropriate authorities such as the Anti-Corruption Commission, he said while speaking at a roundtable on opportunities and challenges of the third terminal.
At the programme, Aviation Operators Association Secretary General Mofizur Rahman alleged corruption in several areas, including the procurement of equipment and the expenses related to last year's soft launch of the third terminal.
Additionally, he raised objections to the exclusive allocation of the third terminal's ground handling services to Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
Speaking as the chief guest, Civil Aviation and Tourism Adviser AF Hassan Ariff said the third terminal would commence full operations in one year.
The event was organised by the Aviation and Tourism Journalist Forum (ATJFB) at a city hotel. The forum's president, Tanzim Anwar, moderated the event.
