‘Gunfight’ kills three including two Rohingyas in Teknaf

Three alleged terrorists including two Rohingyas were killed in a reported gunfight with police in Teknaf of Cox's Bazar early today.
The deceased are Md Jamil, 20, son of Fazal Ahammad at 17 No Rohingya camp in Ukhiya's Balukhali; Md Asmot Ullah, 21, son of Nabi Hossain of the same camp, and Md Rafiq, 24, a resident of Baharchhora Notunpara area of the upazila.
Three policemen were also injured in the incident, said Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station.
Besides, three locally made light guns and six rounds of bullets were also recovered from the scene, he added.
Jamil, Asmot and Rafiq were arrested on September 18, as they were wanted in various cases, including murder, robbery, arms and drugs, said Pradip.
Based on their information, police conducted a drive at Baharchhora Shamlapur Dhala area to recover arms and other robbed goods.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the miscreants opened fire on them, forcing them to retaliate, said the OC.The arrestees, who were with the police team, sustained gun injuries during the clash.
Later, they were taken to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital where doctors declared them dead, said Pradip.
