Harassment of journos: Govt forms committee to assess cases
The committee, headed by the additional secretary (broadcasting), has been asked to keep relevant authorities informed about these cases
The government has formed an eight-member committee to scrutinise the cases against media workers filed to harass them.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued a notification regarding the formation of the committee today (7 October).
The committee's primary function is to assess various cases filed to harass journalists.
The committee, headed by the additional secretary (broadcasting), has been asked to keep relevant authorities informed about these cases.
Other members of the committee include the chief information officer, a representative (of the rank of district judge), the director general of the Directorate of Films and Publications, the managing director of the Bangladesh Journalist Welfare Trust, the director general of the Bangladesh Press Institute, the secretary of the Bangladesh Press Council, and the joint secretary (press) of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
