Hasan Mahmud, Nowfel among 430 sued in Ctg
A case has been filed against 430 people including former foreign minister Hasan Mahmud, education minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel and former Chittagong city mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury in connection with attack on victory procession on 5 August.
The case was filed following the complaint lodged by a CNG auto-rickshaw driver Anwar Hossain at Double Mooring Police Station of the city on Sunday (1 September), said Fazlul Quader Patwari, officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station.
Other notable accused in the case are former MP Mohiuddin Bachchu, Didarul Alam Didar, Chittagong Metropolitan Awami League General Secretary AJM Nashir Uddin, Rampura Ward Councilor Abdus Sabur Liton, North Agrabad Ward Councilor Nazmul Haque Duke, Sarai Para Ward Councilor Nurul Amin and Jubo League former central leader Helal Akbar Chowdhury Babar.
According to the case statement, people brought out a victory procession in front of the Mansoorabad police line of Double Mooring police station on 5 August, the day of the fall of Sheikh Hasina-led AL government.
Miscreants opened fire on the procession on the instructions of the accused, leaving several injured including plaintiff Anwar Hossain.
Later they were rescued and admitted to Chittagong Medical College (CHMEC) Hospital.
