Hasina, Shamim Osman, 46 others sued for murder in Narayanganj

A murder case was filed against Sheikh Hasina, Shamim Osman and 46 others in Narayanganj last night (17 August).
Abul Bashar Anik, brother of Abul Hasan Swajan, 25, who was shot on 5 August in Narayanganj's Chashara and died a day later, filed the case with the Sadar Model Police Station mentioning the 48 individuals and keeping some 150-200 people unnamed, including the former prime minister.
Abdus Sattar, the officer-in-charge of the station, confirmed the filing of the case.
The 48 accused in the case include former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former minister of Bridges Obaidul Quader, former foreign minister Hasan Mahmud, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, former MPs Shamim Osman and Selim Osman, District Awami League Secretary Abu Hasnat Shahid Badal, Shamim Osman's son Ayan Osman, brother-in-law and BCB Director Tanvir Ahmed Titu, Shamim Osman's nephew Azmeri Osman, Mayor Ivy's brother Ali Reza Ujjwal, along with several councillors of Narayanganj City Corporation, UP chairmen, leaders and activists of Chhatra League, Jubo League, Awami League, and Jatiya Party.
According to the case document, Shamim Osman's son, Ayan Osman, shot Abul Hasan Swajan in the Chashara area under the direction of Shamim and Selim Osman at around 1:30pm on 5 August. After being shot in the chest, Swajan died in the afternoon of 6 August while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Regarding the case, the plaintiff, Anik, said, "We decided to file the case after discussing the matter with the metropolitan BNP leaders on Saturday afternoon."
"The police accepted the case immediately after it was filed at the station that night," he added.
