5,527 hospitalised with cold-related diseases in last 24 hours
The highest 1,585 patients were hospitalised in Khulna while Rajshahi saw the lowest number with 216 new admissions
At least 5,527 patients – all suffering from cold-related ailments – were admitted to different hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours, according to the health directorate.
From Sunday at 8am to Monday at 8am, some 777 patients were hospitalised with acute respiratory infection, 1,926 with diarrhea and 2,824 with other diseases, including jaundice and fever, said the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the health directorate.
The highest 1,585 patients were hospitalised in Khulna while Rajshahi saw the lowest number with 216 new admissions till 8:00am this morning, said health directorate officials.
So far, 3,27,010 patients, suffering from winter-related diseases, have been admitted to hospitals across the country since November 1 last year, they added.
Of them, 52,167 were treated for respiratory infection, 12,9183 for diarrhea and 14,5660 for jaundice, eye infection, fever and other diseases.
This winter 51 patients have so far died from winter-related diseases, Dr Ayesha Akhter, assistant director at the control room, told The Business Standard.
Doctors advised drinking clean water to keep oneself hydrated and safeguard against the winter-related diseases.
