Brac’s mobile X-Ray van to detect tuberculosis among Rohingyas

National Tuberculosis Control Programme (NTP) and the NGO Brac have taken an initiative to detect Tuberculosis (TB) among Rohingyas in Cox's Bazar through a high-tech mobile X-Ray van.
To speed up the TB control programme, Brac will implement this programme under the supervision of NTP, said a press statement on Friday.

Prof Dr Mohammad Shamiul Islam, director of Mycobacterial Disease Control (MBDC) and line director of NTP, was present on the occasion as the chief guest.
Among others, Dr Mahbubur Rahman, civil surgeon of Cox's Bazar district, Dr Mohammad Jakir Hossain Khan, superintendent (deputy director) of Cox's Bazar Medical College Hospital, Dr Bisakha Ghosh, Chittagong divisional expert of NTP, and SM Golam Raihan, manager of TB control programme of Brac, were present there.
At the event it was said that about 100 Rohingyas from different camps in Ukhia and Teknaf will get necessary health services free of cost through the van equipped with X-Ray and GeneXpert daily.
Brac earlier took up the TB detection programme among the refugees, but it for the first time launched mobile X-Ray van amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
