Dengue death toll rises to 93 with five more deaths in 24 hours

Dengue fever continues to wreak havoc across the country as five more dengue patients died in the last 24 hours, taking the tally of deaths from the mosquito-borne disease to 93.
A total of 1,239 fresh patients were hospitalised in the last 24 hours till Thursday morning, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the new patients, 756 were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka and 483 outside the capital.
A total of 4,069 dengue patients, including 2,708 in Dhaka, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country, shows the DGHS data.
So far, the DGHS has recorded 17,382 dengue cases and 13,220 recoveries.
Dhaka and Chattogram divisions have the highest number of dengue cases.
The country recorded 281 dengue deaths in 2022, the highest on record after the 179 deaths recorded in 2019. Additionally, the DGHS recorded 62,423 dengue cases and 61,971 recoveries last year.
